Related Tactics: Disclosure: The Whiteness of Glass, Corning Museum of Glass (Nov 2023-Mar 2024)
Related Tactics (Michele Carlson, Weston Teruya, & Nate Watson) will exhibit Disclosure: The Whiteness of Glass at Corning Museum of Glass beginning November 11th. The work will be on view in the Special Projects Gallery of the CMoG Contemporary Art + Design Galleries through March 2024.
The exhibition showcases three iterative stages of interpretation: originating data visualizations by Related Tactics; artist instruction responses by Einar & Jamex de la Torre, Cheryl Derricotte, Emily Leach, Corey Pemberton, Ché Rhodes, and Joyce Scott; and glass responses by Victoria Ahmadizadeh Melendez, Pearl Dick, Raya Friday, Vanessa German, Helen Lee, and Kim Thomas.
The exhibition is a homecoming of sorts, with the collective work originating from an essay commissioned by CMoG and curator/editor Susie Silbert in 2020 for New Glass Review, an annual exhibition in print and incisive look at the field of contemporary glass. The project has travelled from the Center for Craft in Asheville, NC last year, where it was exhibited as the culmination of a Craft Research Fund – Artist Fellowship.
The exhibition will launch with a Connected by Glass lecture taking place November 9, 2023, at 5:30 pm. The event will be held in person and livestreamed via Zoom and will include a panel discussion with Related Tactics and featured artists from the exhibition: Cheryl Derricotte, Pearl Dick, and Emily Leach (moderating).
CMoG has commissioned a catalogue designed by Morcos-Key that will be released in conjunction with the exhibition.
